YDPA: WE WANT NEW PM (XVIII)

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀

Liew Chin Tong

It would be ideal if Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin decided to resign honorably. Or at the very least take a less confrontational approach towards the palace by apologising and offering the heads of the Law Minister and the Attorney-General. Then, Malaysia could have avoided a constitutional crisis.

Alas, the statement by the Prime Minister’s Office last night was not only arrogant and disrespectful towards the palace, displaying an unacceptable disdain towards parliamentary democracy, but also showed Muhyiddin’s unwillingness to let go of the highest office in the country.

The statement by the Prime Minister’s Office focused on Article 40 of the constitution which states that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is bound by the advice of the cabinet. The spirit of the article and the constitution is to ensure that the King is bound by democratic practices and not intervene based on personal preferences.

But we have a peculiar situation here. The King is trying to protect democracy and requesting for the emergency ordinances to be presented, debated, and annulled in Parliament whereas the Muhyiddin government is attempting to prevent Parliament from having a say in the matter.

Back in January, Muhyiddin promised the nation that the King would decide on whether to extend the emergency on the recommendations of the Special Independent Emergency Committee, signifying that the government had then tacitly conceded that the King has his discretion to act over the declaration of emergencies, and that the Cabinet was not the body to advice, as the role has been delegated to the independent committee. Having done so earlier, the Muhyiddin government cannot now turn its back to the King and argue that the King had absolutely no discretion over the emergency.

𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆

Something would have to give after the Royals met on 16 June as the decrees were crystal clear on the need to call for parliament sitting as soon as possible, and that there would be no more emergency rule after 1 August.

From that day on, the clock is ticking. At some point, the Muhyiddin government will have to face Parliament and have its majority tested.

The Royal decrees on 16 June, simply put, were meant to tell the Muhyiddin government that there was no more cover via emergency rule, and the government would have to survive entirely on its ability to command a parliamentary majority.

The Muhyiddin government initially intended to drag it till September but had to call the current “briefing session” after the King met the speakers of both Houses on 29 June.

Why the aversion to call parliament and to allow for vote? The answer is simple. The Muhyiddin government doesn’t have a majority despite probably having the largest group of MPs. Some UMNO MPs have indicated that they would vote against Muhyiddin.

It is now clear that Muhyiddin is digging in his heels and not going to let go honourably. Only if there is a sizable number of Perikatan Nasional MPs deserting Muhyiddin, for now he would not fall. There are some assumptions:

First, Azmin Ali and his bloc has nowhere to go so they can’t ditch Muhyiddin;

Second, PAS will only dump Muhyiddin if its president Hadi Awang is no longer in charge or if there are massive societal pressures;

Third, Sarawak’s GPS will play a wait-and-see game until the last minute, and will probably leave only when Muhyiddin is finally ousted.

Hence, the focus now is on UMNO’s factions. The Muhyiddin government was made possible during the Sheraton coup when UMNO decided to join en bloc. But there are at least three types of views among UMNO MPs.

1. To support Muhyiddin to continue as PM (Hishammuddin Hussein’s faction).

2. To cause the fall of Muhyiddin but maintain the Perikatan government (Najib Razak’s latest view).

3. To cause the fall of Perikatan government (Ahmad Zahid Hamidi; Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah).

Muhyiddin will surely attempt to avoid a vote in parliament. Hence each of UMNO MPs now owes the Malaysian public an answer.

They should each explain their respective political positions in the next two days. Those who want to cause the fall of the Muhyiddin government should work with the Opposition to force a vote in Parliament on Monday 2 August.

𝗔𝗱𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

As the nation enters its most dangerous moment, administrative neutrality is crucial. The postponement of parliamentary sessions and sudden lockdown of parliament yesterday on flimsy health ground is a dangerous precedent.

Lim Kit Siang in his statement said, “The German Parliament contributed the Reichstag fire in 1933 to global parliamentary infamy but let the Malaysian parliament not contribute to global parliamentary infamy with a parliamentary Covid-19 lockdown in 2021!”

As the Muhyiddin government is engaged in a constitutional crisis with the palace, it is difficult to predict what an embattled regime would do to survive.

The police and all other enforcement agencies, and even the health authorities, must practise administrative neutrality and not to allow for these institutions to be used for political gains of the incumbent government. Their role is to serve the people.

For instance, yesterday, the health authorities should have openly said that swab tests were good but the parliament sitting could continue without the health authorities being used as an excuse to stop parliament sitting.

A constitutional crisis is inevitable now. Let’s hope Malaysia will become more democratic as a result of this contestation, and not regress into a more authoritarian form of government.

YDPA: WE WANT NEW PM IN 100 HOURS (XVII)

Apa Malu!

2021/01/18/malays-and-muslim-two-of-a-kind-corrupt-arrogant/

*18 January 2021*

Selamat Pagi Malaysia

*The Malays are a broken people. Broken by our own leaders. Broken by the antics, greed and hubris of Malay political leaders lost in a world where self-interest and nothing else, matters.

It is a world where these political pariahs take every advantage of any opportunity to make themselves some money.

Whether these political pariahs are stealing money from Tab--g H--i where Malays have saved their hard-earned cash in order to do their holy pilgrimage to M--ca, or getting commission and ki---acks in the purchase of C--id  v-cc-es which are critical to the saving of Malaysian lives  – especially the most vulnerable Malaysians  – the old and those in the front lines fighting the pandemic by putting their own lives in danger.

Whether it is playing Russian roulette with the lives of our Armed Forces by purchasing sub----nes and w--pons not fit for purpose that could result in the d--ths of our Armed forces or not providing them with Helicopters and weapons that they need to defend our nation and our people against any encroachments from without.

Our children’s education is disadvantaged by the hundreds of millions sip--ned from the Ministry of Edu----on budget. Money allocated to buy solar panels, laptop, text books and the construction of schools to anything else that our children would need for their education – the contracts to supply these items are grossly inflated to pay off politicians and even the ex PM’s wife.

They even take money from suppliers of food and drinks for our students. There is simply no limit to what these political pariahs will do to make money.

And as if the education of our children is not sacred enough for them to leave alone, the Islamic religion is also a source of funds for these political pariahs. They have no shame, they have no sense of fairness and certainly, there are without morals and ethics in their greed for anything they consider of value for themselves.

And the most despicable of things they do is for P-S to use Islam to benefit their political pariahs. And as if it is not enough that these political pariahs steal, their wives, children, and extended family are also into the thieving.

*I spit upon these political pariahs.*

  • These political pariahs are still today free to roam and plunder our nation at will.
  • All of them Malays.
  • Most of them are old.
  • All of them must be discarded and punished for what they have done in plundering our national coffers.
  • What they have plundered from our coffers must be taken back from them and put to good use to help our nation get back on its feet and prosper.

The narrative spun over and over again: that the Christians will destroy Islam, that the Chinese and DAP will take over the country, and that the Malays must have the political power to survive in their own Tanah Air is stale and are no longer relevant in the world the Malays live in today.

Let us get rid of these Malay political pariahs and banish them where they can no longer shame the Malays by what they do.

We know who they are, and it is time that these political pariahs be held to account for what they have done to the Malays.

Whether they are Prime Ministers, Ministers, Menteri Besar, all those loathsome and despicable Yang Berhormats or those little Napoleons who think that being a Malay gives them license to behave in an obnoxious manner to other Malays, and anybody else that question their plundering of our nation’s resources.

*Let us start by making sure the Father of all Plunderers, N---b R---k, is in incarcerated immediately, to be followed by his wife, R----h M----r* and anyone else who has been the cause of the fall and fall of the Malays.

*Today I am ashamed to call myself a Malay. Being a Malay means you have to take responsibility for what these Malay Political Pariahs have done.*

Today being a Muslim in Malaysia is nothing to be proud of because all these plunderers, thieves, and scammers are Muslim.

  • The non-Malays do not have to tell us these things.
  • There are many Malays today who can think, and we know what Malays have done to our country.
  • You do not have to tell us how much the non-Malays have contributed to the development of Malaysia.
  • We Malays know.
  • You do not have to tell us that Malaysia is also your home. That too, we know.
  • And we know that the Malays have been left behind by the others because it is all there for the Malays to see.
  • The best politicians are not Malays.
  • The least corrupted politicians are not Malays.
  • The most hard-working politicians who deliver on their promise to their electorates are not Malays.
  • But this much we Malays know.
  • The most corrupted politicians in Malaysia are Muslims.
  • The most arrogant politicians are Muslims.
  • And the politicians who do not deliver on their election promise are also Muslims.

So there you have it, this nation of ours has been brought to its knees by corruption and the political shenanigans and devious duplicity of these Malays and Muslims.

And you and I know that it will also have to be the Malays and Muslims who will have to work to get these political pariahs into the dock, to be tried, convicted, and incarcerated if there is to be any hope for our nation to survive past 2020.

Enough said,

My comments : Thank you dear writer. I really hope that you are a young person or that you are much younger than me. Because the first step to correcting the wrongs is to realise that wrongs have indeed been done. Only then can you correct the wrongs - which is Step 2. To do these things you need time. Not too much time but still you need time. Hence the young people, the young Malays must be made aware of all the nation's wealth that has been stolen - usually IN THEIR NAME.

I fully agree with you that these crooks - usually they are big name Malays - must be brought to book. Before throwing them in jail, confiscate all the moneys and the wealth they have stolen. This may take 5 years, 10 years, 20 years etc but it must be done.

Maybe many of them will be dead by then - good riddance - but we must go after their assets and their moneys that were ill gotten. This means their children and grandchildren will have a burden to bear. Their money was stolen. It does not belong to them.

For example there is an elite group of these crooks who have bought properties in London - to the tune of hundreds of millions of Ringgit. That money was ill gotten - the rakyat's money. These people must all be brought to book.  It may take some time and some doing - but it must be done. It will be done.

This is to teach future generations of thieves that when you steal the duit rakyat or the peoples' money the full force of the will of the people will come after you and your families.

It would have been easier for you, your wives and families if you had robbed a bank or robbed a jewellery store.  The matter will end there. But when you stole from the people - when you stole taxpayer's money - that is one poison pill you have swallowed that will remain toxic for you, your wives, your children and up to your grandchildren.

One day there will be that knock on that door.  Tick tock tick tock. Your children and grandchildren will pay. Tick tock tick tock.

OPINIONS
COMMENT | Our F-word that’s really obscene
Andrew Sia

22 Jul 2021, 9:54 am
Updated 21 h ago

On Anthony Loke’s first day of work as transport minister in May 2018, all the staff lined up to welcome him. But he told them that such protocol was an “unhealthy culture” and a “complete waste of time” when they should instead be focusing on their work.

This ampu bodek (fawning and flattering) culture to massage the egos of leaders has, I believe, led to the disastrous handling of the twin Covid-economic crisis.

This feudal culture declares: we know best, we don’t want to consult others, we won’t share data on Covid because we don’t need any advice. We, your ever Wise Leaders, shall decide everything. Just listen to us at our pompous press briefings.

Perhaps this is why the prime minister described himself as ‘abah’ or father. It reflects a paternalistic attitude which proclaims: we, and we alone, shall save you, and you “children” shall honour (and vote for) us. You must obey us (even if we wear ridiculous shirts that look like colourful kuih), or we shall rotan (whack) you with RM10,000 fines.

This is our F-word, our modern form of feudalism. The original one was a social system in Europe about 1,000 years ago when peasants were forced to pay homage and surrender part of their harvest to fatten the lazy lords who had total power over them. When the demands could no longer be tolerated, rebellions (like that of Robin Hood) broke out.

Today, hardworking folks in Malaysia still have to fatten certain people. This is because our system is full of modern lords who can control who will get contracts, licences, privatisation deals and share allocations, as admitted by Nazir Razak, the smarter brother of Najib.

Arrogance and adulation

Our country is obsessed not with “know how” but with “know who” because our 21st century feudal pembesar (noblemen) can hand out goodies not on merit or need, but to those who kowtow to them through the right “cables”.

Naturally, their heads swell with smugness with all this adulation, even if they do their jobs poorly. Before the pandemic, their police outriders swept away all pesky cars of the rakyat so as not to impede their imperial cruise through our traffic-clogged roads.

During the pandemic, they not only broke SOPs but also boasted about it on their own social media. This is why it’s called dua darjat - the laws for common folks do not apply to the lords. So it’s a joke to think that our ministers are supposed to be “servants of the people”.

When people raised white flags in desperation, pompous leaders, such as the PAS Kedah menteri besar, dismissed them as political pawns. How dare these lowly folks make us, the great government, look as if we have failed in our jobs? If you are starving, you are allowed to ask for food only through our “official channels”, never mind if they are slow as slugs. You are not allowed to embarrass us, faham (understand)?

But how could a leader from a “religious” party be so unkind and uncaring? Well, just as the dukes, earls and barons of Europe were supported by the church, so our neo-feudal pembesar are supported by “pious” people such as Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz, who told people not to fly white flags but just to pray.

Former Health director-general Dr Mohamed Ismail Merican recently summed up our leaders’ autocratic attitudes in dealing with the Covid crisis.

“Basically, they don't want to admit weaknesses and failures of the system. They didn't ask for help from others,” he said. “Many local experts have been sidelined. Those who give alternative views are branded as detractors who are disloyal to the government.”

Yes, let me repeat that - disloyal. What our F-word lords want is total obedience, a “yes Datuk” culture.

Wakjo, [27.07.21 06:31]
Way back in April last year, former deputy defence minister Liew Chin Tong pointed out that the government “doesn’t know everything” and that the war against Covid needed a “whole of society” approach, with participation from industry, community and even opposition leaders. But the ruling bigshots decided that they alone know best.

Dr Ismail added that this top-down “just do as I say, don’t do as I do” approach means that decisions are not explained properly and the community doesn’t feel empowered to be part of the Covid battle. And so, people try to escape the “alien” rules imposed from “up above”. Maybe that’s why 200,000 people decided to cheat the system and balik kampung for Hari Raya.

Mega mentality

The feudal attitude of our political noblemen may also explain why we have mega vaccination centres. Who cares if they can become mega clusters, as has already happened in Shah Alam?

Why not use the country’s 9,000 clinics (both government and private) to reach folks in rural areas? Or do vaccinations in all the empty schools and balai raya (public halls) found in many kampungs?

But how can those with a mega mentality go down to the humble grassroots to bring vaccines? No, the people must be forced to make a pilgrimage (sometimes over long distances) to receive their blessings.

Besides, why should the government be “so stupid” to use government facilities for free? When a whopping RM333 million has already been budgeted for “rentals and utilities” of the mega centres (as Khairy Jamaluddin himself admitted)? Hmmm… I wonder who benefits from this? And the rest of the RM5 billion budget for the national vaccine programme?

Various experts have given tons of advice. For example, early this year, 46 senior doctors gave various suggestions, including mass use of cheap antigen test kits for contact tracing (which is such a mess now). Former Miti deputy minister Ong Kian Ming has offered many methods to protect jobs, including hiring jobless IT-savvy youths to help food hawkers boost their business. The Malaysian Medical Association has spoken up repeatedly.

The information is all out there. But are the exalted masters of the manor humble enough to learn? Or do they prefer to be bodoh sombong (stupid yet haughty)?

Heck, even when the Agong himself asked that Parliament be reconvened “as soon as possible” to debate the National Recovery Plan, our feudal politicians have come up with all kinds of tactics to delay, deflect or distort that royal wish. Do they believe that they can defy even the king?

Even kopitiam uncles and pakcik warung can explain why blanket lockdowns are dumb - they destroy the livelihoods of the whole district while the factory clusters are just in one or two corners. But our ignoble noblemen “know better”, so they keep repeating their failed strategies.

Einstein said, “insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. But who dares tell the emperor that he’s not wearing clothes? Those who bravely speak truth to power, like the woman who revealed that the Kedah MB broke SOPs by doing a test drive, are made to pay a heavy price.

The idolising of arrogant and incompetent (or corrupt) leaders has long plagued Malaysia. When times were good, its weaknesses were not so apparent. But during this crisis, our political feudalism has led us to the brink of disaster.

That, my friends, is our F-word that’s really obscene.

YDPA: WE WANT NEW PM (XIV)

PERSIDANGAN PARLIMEN 26 JULAI: PELUANG KERAJAAN PN BUKTIKAN MENDAPAT SOKONGAN MAJORITI DI DEWAN

Mohammad Agus Yusof 15/07/2021

Kedua, negara mencatatkan rekod Covid tertinggi sebanyak 11,618 kes.

6. Legitimasi kerajaan ini penting kerana sebab berikut: (i) memulihkan keyakinan rakyat kepada kerajaan, (ii) meyakinkan pelabur dan pasaran, (iii) menghentikan politiking dengan tekaan jajaran parti baharu, (iv) menghentikan spekulasi ahli parlimen A atau B menyokong siapa, dan (v) menstabilkan politik negara.

11. Susahkah kita hendak memahami legitimasi ini?  Saya petik kata-kata Malcom Gladwell tentang prinsip legitimasi:

… legitimacy is based on three things.  First of all, the people who are asked to obey authority have to feel like they have a voice—that if they speak up, they will be heard.  Second, the law has to be predictable.  There has to be a reasonable expectation that the rules tomorrow are going to be roughly the same as the rules today.  And third, the authority has to be fair.  It can’t treat one group differently from another.

Negara perlu stabil untuk maju. Rakyat perlu makmur untuk sejahtera.

YDPA: WE WANT NEW PM NOW (XIII)

LET'S NEW LEADER FREE US FROM RASUAH AND RASUAH MINDED POLITICIAN

tentang bagaimana sepatutnya wakil rakyat bekerja.
